Well today, I can say that lunch at Elizabeth’s Tea Room in Huntington took lunchtime to a new level. First of all, Elizabeth’s is located in a beautifully maintained historic home that is so welcoming that you immediately feel special just for having stepped through the doors. Posted on 7/25/2012
If you are looking to catch a glimpse of Monument City, bring binoculars! The DNR officially closed the site of the former town when people started looking for and collecting artifacts. Salamonie Lake was established in 1967 by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers as a flood control project for the upper end of the Wabash River and its tributaries. Several small riverside towns, including Monument City, were removed to make way for the reservoir. Buildings were torn down and grave sites…
Roanoke Farmers’ Market is Up and Running!
Posted on 7/10/2012
The kids and I wanted something fun to do this past weekend so we grabbed a reusable tote and headed out to the Roanoke Farmers’ Market. The Farmers’ Markets are held downtown on Main Street every Saturday morning (8 a.m. to noon) from now until Sept. 29. We were able to quickly find a parking spot just a block off the action and quickly found several items among the many booths to purchase. My daughter chose to get her face painted and I must say that the unicorn on her face made a…

Posted on 7/6/2012
With change, comes opportunity! Those who enjoy canoeing and kayaking will be excited to hear that the Salamonie Reservoir in Huntington County is a great location this summer to get out on the water. A lack of motor boat traffic due to low water levels has opened the body of water up to canoes and kayaks that might get squeezed out on a normal day of water fun. Bring along a fishing pole! We’ve heard the fish are biting like crazy! Also, being out on the water presents a great…

Posted on 6/7/2012
Whether you are interested in historic landmarks or just enjoy beautiful unique spaces, Sunken Gardens is a must-see location in Huntington, Indiana. The Sunken Gardens started out as a stone quarry, but after it was abandoned and became an eyesore, the city purchased the property in 1924. A short time later a group of members of the Huntington Chamber of Commerce, headed by E.M. Wasmuth, acquired the quarry and began to beautify it into its original beauty. The group dedicated it to…
