Huntington Heritage Days festivities will be held June 20-24, 2018 in and around downtown Huntington and at Huntington North High School. Organizers have announced this year’s theme that will celebrate the 1950s: “Community Strong”, and the offical colors are Black, White and Silver. Businesses and groups are encouraged to incorporate the theme in their parade entries. The parade will be held on Saturday, June 23rd at 10 a.m.
There will be a carnival, hot air balloon launches, two car shows – a downtown car show Friday night and a car show at HNHS Saturday, a 1950s Sock Hop, kids’ zone with games and contests downtown and much more!!
The Sock Hop is planned as a part of celebrating the ’50 theme: “Community Strong”, and it will take place on Friday evening, June 22, from 7 to 10 p.m. Participants are encourage to dress in ’50s garb, and dance to the music of the Moon Cats at a location in the vicinity of Jefferson and Franklin Streets. The Moon Cats play 50s and 60s classic type music, and the sponsor of the event is Lake City Bank. The Heritage Days car show will be also be taking place in downtown Huntington during this time as part of the celebration.
The festival will conclude with JeFFFest –Fun Food, Fine Art, Fabulous Music. Sunday evening outside in the middle block of N. Jefferson St., in the downtown from 6:00 to 8:30 p.m.
