May 13, 2017

Image Indiana DNR.

Visitors to Salamonie Lake Forest can enjoy a relaxing morning or afternoon walk in the woods while practicing the Japanese art of Shinrin-yoku with Indiana’s only certified forest therapy guide, Christy Thomson, on Saturday, May 13.  Shinrin-yoku, or forest bathing, is said to relax the body and mind and boost the immune system.

Forest bathing walks begin at the Salamonie Upper Wabash Interpretive Center and run from 9 a.m. to noon, and again from 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.  A presentation runs from noon to 1:30 p.m. Participants in either walking session are invited to bring their own bag lunch to eat during the presentation.

*Registration is required. The cost to participate in one of the walks is $15 and is open to persons age 10 and over.  Mothers and daughters who register together will receive a discounted rate in honor of upcoming Mother’s Day. (Note: the walks are Saturday, May 13 only). To register call 260.468.2127.

The event is sponsored by the Friends of the Upper Wabash Interpretive Services group.
