Ride 2 Remember for Alzheimer’s Awareness

The fifth annual Ride 2 Remember for Alzheimer’s awareness will be held on August 5th, and starts and ends at Elmwood Park, 1110 Williams Street. This FREE event is open to riders of all ages and skill levels with any kind of pedal bike. There will also be bikes on hand to borrow. T-shirts will be on sale for $9.
Registration opens at 8:00 a.m. for this 8.3-mile bicycle Poker-Run to raise Alzheimer’s Awareness, with kickstands up at 9:00 a.m. Breakfast will be provided to riders for free before the ride. The ride will last approximately two hours. Bicyclists will ride to five stops which include Hier’s Park, Laurie Park, the new BMX pump track, Memorial Park and return to Elmwood Park. There will be fruit and water available at each stop.
Bicyclists will also parade through the parking lots of three nearby nursing homes on Grant St.: Oakbrook Village, Miller’s Merry Manor and Hickory Creek. Riders are encouraged to decorate their bikes. Funny hats, horns, bells and other celebratory accents are also encouraged, as nursing home residents will be able to watch the bicycle parade!
Following the ride, there will be free food and games at Elmwood Park for the participants and there will be four bicycle giveaways to kids. Information will be distributed on Alzheimer’s to participants
